New Artist on M32Connections - Kapo

Zinc /Union Presents their new rap artist 'Kapo' from the Easton area of Bristol. Formally known under the rap name 'Killa', Kapo began making music in late 2004 but underwent a name change as he felt his name was too clichéd.

Starting off with a Government grant, Kapo and friends set up a rap collective known as The Union / Ufam. Between them, they made over 300 tracks, but Kapo felt they had no real direction and with a lot of creative disagreements within the camp they decided to part ways.

At the time, Bristol Hip Hop was being dominated by artists such as K*ners and Da Label MTG and Kapo felt he had to make his own stamp in the scene.
Continuing to persue his dream, Kapo alongside former Union member Clemintine featured on 2 new projects "In the background" and "Concrete Jungle Projects" - both collaborative mixtapes of Bristol artists, produced by Clemintine and executive produced by Mr Tension.
Kapo describes these mixtapes as being quite revolutionary in the Bristol scene because at the time "In the background" was the first hosted mixtape to be released locally and after this Bristol saw a surge of Hosted mixtapes. Armed with a professional marketing campaign which included merchandise and strong album artwork, Kapo became respected by the artists he looked up to and his presence in the scene was noted well.

To date, Kapo has worked on numerous collaborative projects with a bag of artists in Bristol such as King Aggi, Shaunny Sosa, Tyga T, Streets, Craks, Deezi, Def, Keylo, DZM and Bear. Check the Discography below for a full list of the projects Kapo has worked on.
2011 see's the release of Kapo's first solo mixtape 'What's The Motive' which tells the story of Kapo's childhood, growing up in the streets, political topics and some club music for good measure.
